We previewed the GPX Legend 150, GPX Gentleman, GPX Demon GR and GPX GN Demon. The bikes offer looks and performance of bigger machines at affordable prices. GPX is a Thai manufacturer who produces almost all of their bikes’ components. We were given a preview of the GPX Legend 150, GPX Gentleman, GPX Demon GR and GPX Demon GN tonight by Bike Continent Sdn. Bhd. These GPX models represent great-looking bikes at prices that’s easier on your bank account balance. GPX also assures us that these motorcycles are built tough and reliable. GPX is a Thai motorcycle manufacturer. They produce the frames, bodywork and other parts of the motorcycle except for the running stock. The engines are built in China, but GPX stations their Thai and Japanese engineers at the production plant to monitor the quality closely. The manufacturer is now the 3rdlargest selling brand in Thailand by volume. They are active in organizing rides and special events for their customers, such as the mega gathering at Hard Rock Café Siam Square in Bangkok. GPX Legend 150 from RM 8,XXX available from April 2019 The Legend 150 is a retro model for those who like simplicity and customization. Indeed, the Legend is bare-bones in its stock form. This model is already doing very well in Thailand, its country of origin. The customizers in that country have shown off a number of awe-inspiring customs. The long bench-seat and fuel lends that classic 1950’s look. As such, it should bode well for motorcycle fans in Malaysia who wish to own a motorcycle which reflects their own personalities, instead of owning something which you could find anywhere. The Legend 150 is powered a 150cc, air-cooled, single-cylinder engine. From our observation, the powerplant looks solidly-built with fine finishing. The chassis handled by a pair of telescopic forks and a pair of shocks at the rear. The frame is a welded spaceframe which utilizes the engine as a stressed member. GPX Gentleman 200 from RM 10,980 The Gentleman is GPX’s café racer in the lineup. The model has a number of interesting features LED running lights and taillight. LCD instrument display meter. A shapely fuel tank with Monza-style fuel cap. Stitched seats, rear seat cowl. A large round airbox which kind of looks like an intake for a turbocharger. Sculpted subframe and tailsection. Upside-down forks. Monoshock rear suspension. The Gentleman is powered by a 200cc, air-cooled, single-cylinder engine. The quality of the components can readily be seen. This model is also very popular in Thailand and hundreds of owners will turn up for convoys. GPX Demon GPR 150 from RM 9,XXX available from February 2019 Mini-Panigale? You bet! The Demon GPR’s styling takes after the already gorgeous Ducati Panigale with a number of differences. For example, there are also LED running lights sited in where the air intakes of the Panigale are. Key features Aggressive raptor fully-LED headlamps. LED taillight. Full-fairing with which has slats and vents. Split, sporty seats. Upside-down forks, monoshock rear suspension. LCD instrument panel. Steel trellis frame. Cast swingarm. The Demon GPR rolls on 14-inch cast-alloy wheels. It is powered by the same 150cc, air-cooled, single-cylinder engine of the Legend 150. GPX Demon GN 150 from RM 8,XXX available from March 2019 The Demon GN is the “naked” version of the Demon GPR. It takes the look of a streetfighter. Key features Sharp fully-LED headlights. Fully-LED taillight. Split, sporty seats. Upside-down forks, monoshock rear suspension. LCD instrument panel. Steel trellis frame. The way we look at it, the Demon GN

GPX Demon 150GR Review GPX is a Thailand based motorcycle manufacturer that has made some very big strides since its birth in 2007. This year they plan to launch themselves in the Malaysian market in a big way. They already have a presence in the Philippines, Cambodia, and Singapore and after the second quarter of this year, will have one in Malaysia too. The first of these launches is the GPX Demon 150GR. A minibike that looks like a Ducati Panigale, is not something that you see every day. That too from an unheard of a brand like GPX. Even before asking how good or bad is this bike in question, we need to know just what is this bike. And probably why Ducati hasn’t sued them for plagiarism. Read More Read Less GPX Demon 150GR Design Two things are evident from the very first look. First, it’s a mini bike. And second, it looks very much like a Ducati Panigale. So first, we tackle the size of the bike. Yes, it is a mini bike. Like the Honda Grom. Its dimensions are 1835 L X750 W X 1050 H mm. The seat is just 780 mm high off the ground. The wheelbase is 1230 mm. The small proportions are noticeable from the start. The most defining characteristic, however, have to be the 14” wheels. These give the bike a low sporty stance. But these small wheels are shod with sizeable 120/70 tires in the front and 140/70 tires in the rear. These thick tires show that this bike tries to hit above what its small size may suggest. This brings us to that other aspect of the bike. The styling clearly aims to be out of this world. It does a very good job of appearing like a scaled down version of the famed Ducati Panigale. Especially in red – one of the three color options other than black and white – with minimal graphics. The headlight cluster is almost identical and uses LEDs for headlights and DRLs. Same goes for the taillights. The sporty fairing covers the entirety of the front. The tail section itself is tiny and may not be advisable for pillion riders despite coming with its own seat. The exhaust is tiny and tucked under the bike. There is also a high windshield and a compact and high fuel tank that complete the look. This tiny bike is equipped with copper-colored upside down shocks and disc brakes on both wheels along with fully digital display and clip-on handlebars. There is a small lockable storage space under the pillion seat and a USB charging port under the display too. So even if it is small in size, this is no small fry. Demon 150GR Ride & Handling The bike has a trellis frame and an upside-down telescopic front fork set up with a monoshock in the rear. Those front forks are from KYB. The slightly high seat and low set and narrow clip-on handlebars mean that rider sits on the bike with a more than slight lean forward. The legs will be hugging the contoured tank and the seating position is tight because of the small stepped seat and the position of the foot pegs. At 130 kg, this bike should be an agile handler, especially because of the thick tires, which are Pirelli Diablo Scooter tires by the way. GPX Demon 150GR Engine & Fuel Consumption The GPX Demon 150GR uses a 149 cc air-cooled and carbureted engine. There are no performance figures revealed at the moment. The engine being air cooled does get quite hot under the enclosed fairing. Still, the engine is good enough to propel the bike to speeds of up to 75 kmph. Demon 150GR Braking & Safety There are disc brakes in both the front and the rear doing braking duties. To be precise, there is no additional safety measure that has been offered by the manufacturer in this offering. Purva Jain Jun 26, 2018 GPX is as obscure as it gets when we talk about motorcycle manufacturers. Being a company from Thailand that was born in 2007, it is not exactly a household name. It, however, made some pretty big strides in its short existing time. The company now enjoys a presence in Singapore, Cambodia, and the Philippines. In 2018, GPX made its way onto Malaysian shores with the launch of two brand new bikes. But if you’ve seen the pictures on this page then you might be thinking that there is something fishy. No, they are not compressed out of shape. You are indeed looking at a mini bike here. This makes the Demon 150 GR – one of their first offerings in the country – extremely interesting. The Demon 150 GR is just 1,835 mm long, 750 mm wide, and 1,050 mm tall. Just for the sake of comparison, the Honda MSX125 is 1,755 mm long, 730 mm wide, and 1,000 mm tall. This might give you a little perspective about what you are looking at here. The seat though is 780 mm high off the ground and the wheelbase is 1,230 mm. The wheels are 14-inch in diameter and are shod with 120/70 tires at the front and 140/70 at the rear. For comparison the MSX125 has pretty much the same dimensions except for the seat which is much lower at 763 mm. It also has 12-inch wheels with thinner tires. While we can get over the small size of the bike, we simply cannot look past that styling. Every motorcycle manufacturer worth their salt, somewhat follows the Italians when to comes to design trends in the motorcycling industry. But this level of inspiration has never been seen before. It is as if the designers simply took the picture of a Panigale and then xeroxed it at half the size. The resemblance is uncanny. The shape of headlights, paint scheme, fully faired body, suspension components – all seems lifted straight from the Ducati Panigale. And we must say that it has a kind of endearing quality to it. The level of equipment on this bike is almost beggars belief. Headlights, DRLs and tail lights, all get the full LED treatment. Upside down front forks from KYB, monoshock rear, disc brakes, fat Pirelli Diablo Scooter rubber, fully digital display, and clip-on handlebars – all for the price of RM 8,000 make this bike an insane deal. And that’s not all. The bike also gets a small lockable underseat storage area and a USB charging point. This level of equipment is hard to find on bikes with a similar price tag. This tiny bike with its 14-inch wheels and clip-on handlebars gets a 150 cc engine. It is carbureted and air cooled – probably to keep the prices low. Still this is quite unexpected in this class. There are no performance figures to be found but the bike is good for a top speed of 75 kmph with a weight of 135 kg. But the air-cooled engine with the fully covered body does not exactly raise confidence levels. This bike shows ambition. The seat is snug and the seating is as a race like on a mini bike. The fat tires also inspire a lot of confidence. However, this is where things start to go wrong. The GPX is not that well known a brand as let’s say, Honda. Service and parts availability is not exactly going to be easy. With all the big brands mentioned in the spec sheet, it only gets worse. In the Philippines, the brand is being represented by Bike Continent, located at Johor Bahru, Johor. But even the company’s website is not informative. Finding details about the engine’s output is very difficult. Is this a good bike? Possibly. What we can say for sure is that it is a good looking mini bike with racing bike riding stance and very good equipment level that is available for around RM 8,000. This price happens to be around RM 3,000 less than the MSX125 which is the closest competition to this bike. So, now that you know what to expect from this tiny Panigale, is it worth your money and time?
